Our Network is divided in 4 important categories: the Customer Premise Equipment or CPE, The Wireless Points of Presence or WiPOP’s, the Point to Point Backhaul links and the Network Operations Center or simply The NOC.
The CPE, the starting point of our network, is the equipment utilized to connect the customers to our advanced network. It typically consists of a Planar Antenna (measures 12” by 12”) and a fixed Broadband IP Transceiver.
The WiPOP’s are where fixed wireless connections are distributed to our customers; they are similar to the cell sites used by cellular phone providers. Strategically located in high buildings or communications towers, they provide appropriate coverage to the nearby areas.
The Point-to-Point Backhauls or PTP’s are high capacity wireless links that carry the traffic from the WiPOP’s to the NOC. This links can stretch as far as 70 miles and can carry data traffic up to OC-3 levels (155 mbps).
The NOC is where all the action happens; all data traffic goes through our custom routers and servers, developed internally. User security, bandwidth and authentication are handled at this central location.
We use Fixed Microwave technology as our last mile delivery transport. AeroNet’s Backbone is based on a Mesh of Microwave Backhaul links and Fiber Links. All our services are delivered via an Ethernet Interface backed by a core IP and MPLS Network for full diversity on customer options.
A PON (Passive Optical Network) is a form of fiber-optic access network. It consists of an optical line terminal (OLT) and a number of optical network units (ONUs) near end users. Ours is a point-to-multipoint, fiber to the premises network architecture, where unpowered optical splitters are used to enable a single optical fiber to serve multiple premises. A PON configuration reduces the amount of fiber and central office equipment required.
In those cases where a fiber optic installation is required, AeroNet offers a unique business model we call The Partnership Agreement. Without added cost, we provide the building with access for fiber infrastructure installation and maintenance. This way we’re able to integrate the latest technology to their building facilities, provide a cost-effective Internet solution to their tenants, add value to prospect tenants, and rest assured they have a future-proof infrastructure that will last for the next 50 years or more.
